Oh my goodness, it’s just the sweetest ever!
I was going to put just a plain grey, classic linen on this one. In fact I cut it out, stapled it all on, and was just about done when I realized there was a stain. Don’t you just hate when that happens? How annoying…
As it turns out, it was all for the best. I had been sittin’ on this one forever and just couldn’t move forward. I painted several thin coats of chalk paint and sanded with 400 grit between each coat. The finish is smooth as silk!
I am oh so happy that darn stain intervened with my choice.
This little chair was meant to be an homage to Rachel Ashwell.
I’m crazy over the curvy arms and silhouette. This is such a solid old chair. I think it’s maple. I also waxed and buffed it up nicely with Miss Mustard Seed clear and antique wax.
I saved the old label, I don’t know why… as if it could tell me something. Hmmm, made by the Hickory Chair Company Circa ?
I couldn’t be happier, what a nice little ladies chair you turned out to be. I had a vintage chenille bedspread in my treasure trove and wasn’t I just skipping when I realized it had a fleur de lis. How perfect!
So here’s to you flower girl Rachel.
Now I’ve got the perfect seat if you happen to stop by!
